Dustin Diamond dishes on life after 'Saved by the Bell'

ALTOONA Wis. (WEAU) - A stand-up comic best known for his role as a geeky teenager on the show "Saved by the Bell" says that, even as a thirty-something, he wouldn't rule out reuniting with the cast of the show that gave him his big break.

Dustin Diamond sat down with WEAU 13 News to talk about life after "Saved by the Bell." He played the character Samuel "Screech" Powers in the show that aired in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Diamond performed at Whiskey's Grill and Bar in Altoona Saturday night.

Diamond, 36, says he has a soft spot for the nerdy teenager that made people laugh, even though it's been years since he played "Screech" on TV. When WEAU 13 News asked Diamond about a possible "Saved by the Bell" reunion, he told us that he's a little old to play "Screech," but that he also wouldn't rule it out.

Diamond has been doing stand-up comedy for 14 years. He says that's his focus now.

"Stand-up comedy is one of the rawest forms of entertainment," he said. "It’s just you and your jokes, and you live or die by your jokes. There is nothing to fall back on."

Diamond says his comedy focuses on relationships.
