STORY FROM 12/7/12
EAU CLAIRE, LAKE HALLIE Wisc. (WEAU) - The Eau Claire and Lake Hallie Police Departments are investigating two robberies that happened at Holiday gas stations early Friday morning.

The first happened at the Mega Holiday station on 120th St. in Lake Hallie at 12:26 a.m., according to Lake Hallie Police Chief Cal Smokowicz. He said no weapon was displayed but the robber demanded money.

"He had his hands in his pockets the majority of the time," Smokowicz said. "We don't know if he had a weapon in that hand or not ... He had the clerk go into the bathroom, and then he fled in a vehicle." "The clerk complied with his demands and notified us."

The Lake Hallie suspect is described as a bald heavy set white man in his late 20s or early 30s with no facial hair seen leaving in a blue Ford Contour.

The second robbery happened at 1:06 a.m. at the Holiday station on Golf Road in Eau Claire. Eau Claire police spokesman Kyle Roder said the department believes it was an armed robbery.

"We're investigating whether our case is related to the one in Lake Hallie," Roder said. "Our detectives are following up on leads from our officers who did the initial investigation. That includes surveillance video, statements from the clerk and witnesses."

Both police departments said they are following up on leads but no arrests have been made.

No one was hurt, but with no suspects, James Bolin, who works across the street from the Lake Hallie Holiday said it's a reminder to be cautious.

"It's kind of close. It's a shame that it happened and hopefully they do catch the people who did it. Hopefully that puts an end to it," Bolin said.

WEAU will have more information on the cases as it becomes available.
