EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Investigators believe grease fire in a ventilation system caused a fire at a sports bar near Eau Claire Thursday.
The Township Fire Department says the fire at Double Day's Bar and Grill on London Road caused nearly $20,000. Firefighters responded just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday and found a fire in a grease hood. They put it out quickly. It was contained to the kitchen and roof of Double Day's. Smoke from the fire damaged several other businesses in the shopping strip.
Nobody was hurt, and the property was turned back over to Double Day's staff.

It happened at Double Day's Bar and Grill near Eau Claire. An employee called for help before 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Crews responded and found the fire in the ventilation system. They evacuated the bar, which was open when the fire started. Flames were visible shooting out of the roof at the back of the building. There's no word on how many people were inside at the time of the fire. Nobody was hurt. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire. They say there's nothing to indicate any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
Crews shut down a stretch of London Road and Pomona Drive for almost a half-hour.

The fire broke out about 4:30pm this afternoon at Double Day's Bar and Grill, on London Road. That’s near the south side of Eau Claire.
The Township Fire Department says an employee of the business reported the fire.
Officials say the fire started in the ventilation system and got into the attic.
All employees are evacuated and no one is hurt.
The fire was put out by the Fire Department. Officials say they believe the fire is not suspicious.
