Eau Claire County to once again have free deer carcass disposal

Wisconsin DNR Press Release

(WEAU) - Free deer carcass disposal returns to Eau Claire County for this year’s gun deer hunt thanks to a cooperative effort involving two sportsmen’s clubs, a waste handling company and some skilled high school students.

There are two locations, available Saturday, opening day, through Dec. 10.
1. Tower Ridge County Recreation Area at the ski chalet parking lot. Seymour Township East of Eau Claire, HWY L, South of CTH Q
2. Lake Eau Claire County Park at east end of parking lot. North of Augusta, East of HWY 27 and CTH SD.

This is the fourth year of the program started by conservation warden Ken Thomson of the state Department of Natural Resources to give hunters a convenient place to dispose of remains after they have butchered a deer.

Deer hides will also be collected. Proceeds from the hides help pay for the dumpsters. A bin will be placed next to the dumpster for hides.

Funding for the project was provided by the Augusta Area Sportsman’s Club, the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club and Veolia Environmental Services.

Deer hide collection bins are being provided by Fall Creek High School’s technology education class.
