EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- "This is the first time anything like this has happened," said C.J. Long.
Long has lived in his home on North Barstow Street in Eau Claire for the past five years. But on Monday, he says for the first time he got an unexpected, unwanted and suspicious visitor at his door.
Long says the man looked well dressed and very official. But says something did not jive with what he said and the way he acted.
"He told me he was with DHS and his name was Carlos S," he said. "And he had a call about a child wandering in the street and he wanted to speak to me, and he wanted to step inside and speak. I asked him for the paperwork or any kind of ID, he was adamant about getting in the house. It was everything we'll talk about it in the house."
Long says he was also suspicious because the person did not address him by name and would not show an ID.
"They usually identify themselves by asking your name," he said. "This guy couldn't even tell me my name he just kept calling me sir."
He says the man was about 5 feet 9 inches and was wearing a blue dress shirt with khakis and carrying a briefcase. Long says he kept pushing the visitor for ID, meanwhile keeping him away from the front door.
"As soon as I started to get upset I was gonna call and try to find out what was going on and he got nervous and disappeared.
Police tell us they did respond to a call from Long on Monday. And as of Monday afternoon, had not gotten any other calls about similar reports.
