HAYWARD, Wis. (WEAU) – A judge reduced the sentence for a teenager convicted for his role in the stabbing death of a 93-year-old woman in 2009.
On Friday, the judge sentenced Austin Davis, 18, of Ojibwa to eight years in prison and seven years of extended supervision.
"I think about this every day and it's hard," Davis told the court on Friday. "I wish I would have done more to prevent it. Honestly, I was a coward not to."
Davis pleaded guilty to Second Degree Intentional Homicide in May 2009. He was originally sentenced to 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision in January 2011, but Davis’ attorney requested a new pre-sentence investigation. The lawyer said there were errors in the state’s initial investigation.
Investigators say Davis and Christopher Roalson, 30, of Radisson broke into Irena Roszak’s Radisson home. Prosecutors say Roalson shouted satanic references as he stabbed her. A jury convicted Roalson of First Degree Murder in September. He’s scheduled to be sentenced in March.
