Name released in fatal Barron County crash

(WEAU)-We now know the name of the woman who died in a car crash on Thursday night. State Patrol says 83-year-old Lucille Engrisch of Rice Lake was killed. 57-year-old Russell Engrisch of Rice Lake had non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say at the time of the crash, the area was receiving light snow and the roadway was snow covered and slippery.

The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle tried to take the Chetek exit off of Hwy 53 but missed the exit ramp, hit a highway sign and began to roll as it entered the ditch.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
(WEAU) - One person died in a one car crash Thursday night in Barron County.

The State Patrol says it happened on Highway 53 around 6:50 p.m. It says the car slid off the exit for Chetek and ended up on its roof. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lone passenger in the car was taken to the hospital in Rice Lake with serious injuries.

It says the road was snow covered at the time of the crash.

The names haven't been released.
