EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Those of you who are shopping for the Holidays might find that buying "made in the U.S.A." gifts isn't all that easy.

We decided to visited several stores to find out how likely you are to find American-made products.

Jewelry, some clothes, belts, décor and even shoes were among some of the U.S.A.-made products we found at our first stop, Downtown shop “Silver Feather”.

"If you are looking for something made in the United States it can be difficult at times. Sometimes you have to hunt for it, you have to seek, you have to go out and find it, and it's not easy," said consumer Nancy Peloquin.

Finding more practical items that can be used every day in a household was a little more difficult. But there are a few places where you can find pottery, bags, wallets, hats and gloves made in the U.S.

"When you buy United States made stuff the money stays in the United States, specifically when you buy local the money stays in our community and it our economy,” said Erin Roesler, co-owner of “Tangled Up in Hue”.

Finding brand-new toys that are made in the United States can be quite a difficult task, so you might want to take a look at some older items, like vintage trains.

"We've been here for 14 years, we do sell toys and the toy trains specifically, during this time we have seen a trend which is for a lot of things to be made in China,” said Charlie Schaaf, sales associate at “Model Trains Classics”.

"I try to buy American-made things, and it's difficult when you go out and try to find electronics and children's toys or clothing,” said Jane Wolf, owner of “Silver Feather”.

Electronics were at the top of our "Hard to Find” list as well. We did find one "Made in America" TV set. Element electronics makes it, and it is sold online.

"See people interested and concerned about where their items are coming from it's a wonderful feeling, it's what's going to keep America growing,” said Roesler.

Many local shop owners we talked to said they're seeing more of a turn-around when it comes to shopping local.
They added that many customers are asking for things that are made in America to cross off of their Christmas lists.
