(WEAU) - A group of 35 non-profit groups around Wisconsin say they have created an alternative to Governor Walker's budget plan.

Called the Wisconsin Values Budget, its a balance of cuts to programs and targeted tax increases on the wealthy and big business. The budget's creators say the budget is all about insuring everyone helps bear the state's financial burden evenly, and to lessen the extent of governor walker's proposed budget cuts.

Robert Kraig with Citizen Action of Wisconsin said “Our conclusion is you don't have to pay these cuts as long as the corporations and the wealthy all pay their fair share, and a shared sacrifice. The same sacrifice all of us are making and the public employees are making.”

The Wisconsin Values Budget calls for $1.6 billion in spending cuts and public workers concessions, and $1 billion in tax increases on the wealthy and corporations.
