Hayward business owner agrees to settlement

(WEAU) - A business owner will get hundreds of thousands of dollars after suing the City of Hayward

We first told you about this in 2010, when Molly Otis sued the city saying its music ordinance was unconstitutional. She said it blocked her from playing music in her venue, called the pavilion, after 10 p.m. and she said she was raided shortly after the city passed the rule.

Her attorney says the jury ruled in her favor in a federal court, but the city appealed. During the appeals process Otis' attorney says the two sides agreed on a settlement through mediation. Otis was awarded nearly $630,000, $400,000 for damages to her business and reputation, and the rest for attorneys and fees.
