MERRILL, Wis. (WEAU) - Investigators have confirmed the identity of the human remains found in Taylor County last week as those of a missing woman.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department says it has received confirmation that Anita Bucki's remains were found in Taylor County. On Monday, Bucki's husband Mark Bucki was arrested. Investigators say he will be charged with her murder.

Deputies have contacted Anita Bucki's family. A release from the department says that it will not release any other details of the investigation.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- When Larry Sprotte and his wife went out on a walk Friday morning, they never imagined how it would end.

"We thought nothing of it, people discard a lot of stuff alongside the highway," Sprotte said.

What they thought was just debris from a distance, turned out to be something much bigger when they took a step closer.

"It looked like a spot of flesh was opened up so we assumed and stepped down a little closer, and it was in the shape of a body, so we called the police right away," he said.

Video shot by airplane shows police in the area working the scene. Several investigators along with the mobile crime unit and Wisconsin State Crime Lab were on the ground.

All of this unfolded in Taylor County along County Road C about 10 miles northeast of Medford.

Nearby roads were closed down as well. It is unclear at this point whether the remains could be that of 48-year-old Anita Bucki.

Bucki was reported missing on April 26th by her husband. Ground and water searches near her home in the following days showed no signs of her.
