Jackson County K-9 "Ice" dies after illness

JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- Just two months after WEAU did a story about his service as a K-9 with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, we have gotten word that "Ice" has died after battling an illness.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says Ice became seriously ill on June 10th and passed away the next day.

Ice worked with Deputy Nick Gray since 2009 as a drug sniffer. He worked in more than 275 confirmed cases in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is recognizing his service at the law enforcement memorial near Black River Falls at a memorial service on June 27th at 5:00 p.m.
