Wis. woman pleads no contest in baby's 1957 death

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A 76-year-old Wisconsin woman accused of killing her infant daughter more than a half-century ago has pleaded no contest and could serve 45 days in jail and 10 years' probation in the girl's death.

Ruby Klokow was charged with second-degree murder in the 1957 death of her 6-month-old daughter, Jeaneen, only after her son came forward in 2008 with horrific stories of childhood abuse.

Klokow pleaded no contest to the murder charge Monday. District Attorney Joe De Cecco (deh-CHEK'-oh) cited her advanced age and health as factors in the recommended plea deal.

Sheboygan County Judge Angela Sutkiewicz will consider the terms of the agreement at sentencing next month.

Klokow's attorney says she is remorseful and is "dealing with a lot of heartache."
