LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Health care has gotten more convenient at an area employer.

Jason Linder of Coon Valley is in physical therapy, because he has pain in his right knee, but he doesn’t have to travel far.

That’s because his employer, Kwik Trip, which operates convenience stores, opened a health care clinic during the first week of December at its headquarters in La Crosse.

When I started having problems with my knee, I got in right away and it’s right next to work, so a couple of my appointments I came in right before I went to work,” said Linder.

The clinic is staffed by Marathon Health, and serves about 3,000 Kwik Trip employees in the La Crosse area.

It’s also open to employees’ spouses and their dependents who are six or older.

Clinic site supervisor Angie Hammond said feedback has been positive.

She also said appointments can be scheduled online.

“We want to have the best care available and right at your fingertips, so definitely this is the atmosphere to do that we do that in,” said Angie Hammond, R.N. and health coach.

Kwik Trip corporate communications manger John McHugh said Kwik Trip is one of La Crosse’s largest employers.

He said the health care clinic was opened to serve its employees.

“For us here at Kwik Trip the primary reason is our coworkers are our number one asset, and if they are your number one asset, then you make sure that you put your time and resources into taking care of those people, and that’s our coworkers,” said McHugh.

La Crosse is the only Kwik Trip location with a health care clinic, but McHugh said that could change.

McHugh said Logistics Health Incorporated in La Crosse and Ashley Furniture in Arcadia also have health care clinics for employees.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- Convenience store operator Kwik Trip is trying to make health care a little more convenient for its workers.

The company has opened a clinic at its La Crosse headquarters to serve about 3,000 employees in the area and other workers online.

The La Crosse Tribune reports ( ) the company's effort is part of a trend of businesses offering such services.

The Kwik Trip clinic is operated by Marathon Health For Life, a national worksite health care company.

Randy Miritello, of Onalaska, says he has used the clinic three times since it opened Dec. 4. He went once for a hoarse throat, once for a health assessment and again Tuesday for lab work. Miritello says he thinks all employees should take advantage of such services.
