MONDOVI, Wis.(WEAU) -- A fire leaves an area family without a home three days before Christmas.

The Mondovi Fire Department was called to W3510 Hemlock Road, near Mondovi around 7:30 am Saturday morning.

Mondovi Fire Chief Dennis Brion says the crews were on scene until almost 2:20pm Saturday afternoon.

The Chief says all three people who were inside the home at the time of the fire were able to escape before the fire crews arrived. One person in the house suffered burns to his hand and was treated at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Crews says the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but say they suspect wood burning stove and chimney could be the blame.

The home is a total loss.
