Local photographers inspired by tragedy

(WEAU) Lake Hallie - Local photographers say they were moved to do something in the wake of the school shooting.

They say they're participating in the Olivia Act, inspired by 6-year-old Olivia Engel, who was one of the 20 children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday. A Texas photographer heard her family had family pictures taken shortly before the tragic shooting. That photographer decided to give a deserving family a free session and challenged other studios to do the same.

That quickly caught on and we learned of several local photographers participating. Amber Kristine Photography in Lake Hallie will take nominations until January 1. She says since we are never guaranteed tomorrow, a family portrait can be a special memory.

Here's how she says you can nominate someone:

You can send in your nominations by messaging me on Facebook, or by emailing me at amberkristinephotography@hotmail.com. The only requirement is that this family must have children, our children are the Future of this world. I will take nominations untill January 1st.
