CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- A man is in custody after barricading himself in a room at Indianhead Motel in Chippewa Falls with possible explosives and weapons.
The Chippewa Falls Police Department said it got a call around 5 a.m. from Darcin Taylor of Stanley who said he was very upset after a fight with his girlfriend. Officers said the Taylor told them he didn't care what he did or who he hurt and made reference to having explosives and weapons.
Police called in the SWAT team and after four hours of negotiation, officers talked Taylor out of the room and he surrendered with no incident.
Police Chief Wendy Stelter said even though she wishes incidents like this don’t happen, her police department and law enforcements agencies are ready to respond.
“We got the right personnel and they're trained and everyone knew what to do ad was prepared for it. And with the assistance of the Chippewa Co. Sheriff's Department and the Eau Claire Sheriff's Department, it came to the right conclusion,” said Stelter.
Stelter said no explosives or weapons were found in the room. Charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage and bail jumping are expected to be filed.
