(WEAU) - A man is charged with hurting a deputy to the point he had to go to the hospital.
Arron Schultz, 28, faces battery to an officer and fleeing charges after investigators say he led a trooper and deputy on a high speed chase in Eau Claire County on July 3rd. The criminal complaint says they tried to pull him over but the Eau Claire man only sped up to more than 100 miles per hour.
The chase started near the I-94 Foster exit and ended on Hillview Road. The Eau Claire County deputy says Schultz went into the ditch, but took off running, jumping over the hood of the squad.
As the deputy tried to cuff him, he says Schultz tried to punch and bite him. The deputy used his taser multiple times and pepper spray to arrest him. The deputy had to go to the hospital with cuts he got in the scuffle.
