BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - On June 15, at about 10:00 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a one vehicle crash on State Highway 95 at about Simonson Road in the Town of Springfield, Jackson County, WI. The Taylor First Responders, Black River Ambulance and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene. There were two occupants in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was trapped in the vehicle with serious injuries. The passenger was removed and transported by ambulance to Black River Memorial Hospital.
The initial investigation showed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Highway 95. The vehicle crossed the centerline and continued off the roadway on the north-side of the highway. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting the driver and trapping the passenger inside the vehicle. Open and unopened alcoholic beverages were located inside the vehicle. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested the Wisconsin State Patrol to assist with conducting a crash reconstruction. The crash is under investigation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Cletus A. Moyer, age 36 and the passenger is Samantha J. Sandberg, age 25, both from the Mondovi, Wisconsin area. Sandberg is being medically treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
