Man struck, killed on I-43 in Waukesha County

VERNON, Wis. (AP) -- A 48-year-old man who got out of his disabled vehicle on Interstate 43 in Waukesha County was struck by another vehicle and killed.

According to the Waukesha County sheriff's department, the man was struck at about 6 p.m. Friday and found dead outside his vehicle, which was on the shoulder of the road in the Town of Vernon.

The sheriff's department says the driver of the vehicle that struck the man was being interviewed.

The crash temporarily closed the southbound lanes of I-43.
