Minn. woman admits killing ex-husband

FOLEY, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the shooting death of her ex-husband last year.

Angelina O'Mara admitted that she killed James Kelly O'Mara in his Sauk Rapids apartment by shooting him once in the head.

Angelina O'Mara's plea came Tuesday after three days of trial. She admitted that she brought a .22-caliber rifle to James O'Mara's apartment late Oct. 28, 2011, and shot him as he was lying on the couch.

O'Mara also is accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend, Michael Pies. His body was found in an Ashland, Wis., motel room several days later. She's charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Wisconsin.

The St. Cloud Times reports O'Mara is scheduled to be sentenced in her ex-husband's death Dec. 21 in Benton County District Court.
