(WEAU) - Researchers with the University of California, San Francisco say sugar should now be considered a poison, and should be regulated like alcohol and tobacco.
In the latest issue of nature, Doctor Robert Lustig and his colleagues are calling for stronger controls on drinks and food high in sugar. They say sugar is so bad for us, that it should be taxed and yanked off the list of products that can be bought using food stamps and in school lunch programs.
Critics and sugar industry representatives say they disagree with the researcher’s findings and opinions.
