La Crosse - (WEAU)
Thursday afternoon, part of a nursing home had to be evacuated.
It happened about 4:30 p.m. at the Saint Joseph Nursing home on East Avenue in La Crosse.
Firefighters say flames broke out in a laundry room, but a smoke alarm gave people plenty of warning.
The fire was controlled by the sprinkler system, and everyone got out safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
