Officers respond to call in Thorp on reports of threat

THORP, Wis. (WEAU) -- A young man in Thorp was taken into custody on a mental health hold Wednesday night after the police chief said calls came in for a person threatening himself and others with a gun.

The chief said several officers went to the home on School Street in Thorp and discovered the 19-year-old man was reportedly suicidal, but was not threatening others and didn't have a gun.

The chief said no one was ever in any danger and no charges will be filed.
