Black River Falls man killed, three children seriously hurt in crash

HUDSON, Wis. (WEAU) – A Black River Falls man was killed and his three children were seriously injured in a crash near Hudson. Another driver was also hurt and taken to the hospital.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says around 4:00 p.m. Saturday. It went to a crash on Old Highway 35 at Tower Road in the Township of Troy.

Troopers said 38-year-old Scott W. Shoemaker was going west on Tower Road when he drove through a stop sign. His car crashed with a minivan, heading northbound on Hwy 35, driven by a 42-year-old man from Hudson.

Shoemaker was killed at the scene. His three children, ages 12, 14 and 16, were also in the car and were serious injured. The 12-year-old girl and 16-year-old girl both have life threatening injuries. The 14-year-old boy has non-life threatening injuries. All three are at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The driver of the minivan was taken to a Hudson hospital for non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released.

Troopers said everyone was wearing a seatbelt and no alcohol was involved.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
