BARRON, Wis. (WEAU) – A teenager accused of dealing LSD to another teenager who ran into the path of a semi faces a charge of First Degree Reckless Homicide.
Prosecutors filed the charge against Dorien Hash, 17, of Barron on Monday. Alex Hill, 18, of Cameron died at the hospital after investigators say he ran east in the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 8 early Saturday morning. The semi was heading east on Highway 8, and tried to stop and move over, but Hill turned toward the semi and ran into its path.
Investigators say Hill’s girlfriend told them Hill was at a house party Friday night, and that Hash had told her Hill was on drugs. Hill’s girlfriend said that there was a point where she thought she should call an ambulance for Hill, but Hash and the person who lived at the house had said not to because people had been drinking.
A deputy reviewed text messages on Hill’s cell phone, and saw that there were texts related to Hill asking Hash for drugs. Hash later told a deputy that he sold Hill LSD, and acknowledged that the drugs contributed to what led up to Hill’s death.
If convicted, Hash could spend 40 years in prison. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
