Menomonie, WIS. (WEAU)- Police arrest a man after he tried to steal items at a store and later displayed a handgun.
The Menomonie Police Department says on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. Fleet Farm Loss Prevention confronted a customer leaving the store without paying for some items.
The customer was later identified as William J. Lambie. As Lambie fled across the parking lot, he showed a handgun to the Fleet Farm employee. Lambie left the area on foot and was arrested a short time later. Lambie had tossed the handgun prior to police contact. A later search of the area was conducted and officers found a loaded ..22 cal Smith and Wesson semi-auto handgun.
Officer's searched Lambie's vehicle which was parked at Fleet Farm and found meth and various drug paraphernalia. No one was hurt during the incident.
