Racine gets 6" of snow

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A snowstorm moving across the nation's midsection is making roads slippery in southeastern Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service already had reports of 6 inches of snow near Racine and 5.5 inches in Twin Lakes by Tuesday evening.

Kenosha County sheriff's Sgt. Bill Beth says nearly 100 accidents including six with injuries were reported by 5:30 p.m. He says two of the crashes involved school buses, but no one was hurt.

A spokeswoman for Mitchell Airport tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel arrivals and departures were intermittently delayed Tuesday afternoon as runways were closed for plowing snow.

The weather service says the storm could dump 6 to 10 inches of snow in southeastern Wisconsin, with the highest amounts along Lake Michigan. Strong winds will cause drifting snow and cut visibility.
