Resale store using proceeds to help domestic violence victims

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A new second hand store is giving back to help people who have experienced domestic violence.

The 2nd Chance Resale store has been open for a little more than a week in La Crosse.

Most of the proceeds go to New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Centers, which has locations in La Crosse and Whitehall.

2nd Chance Resale is run by ORC Industries, and provides jobs for people with disabilities.

New Horizons’ executive director said the store is important, because it helps raise awareness about New Horizons and its services.

New Horizons has also lost funding over the last few years, because of county, state and federal budget cuts.

“We have to have funding in order to provide our services to persons, because we don’t charge people that we serve anything,” said Ann Kappauf.

You can bring donations to the store, New Horizons or to pink donation boxes in La Crosse and Trempealeau Counties.
