Rice Lake logger helps black bear stuck in milk can

RICE LAKE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A black bear gets caught in an un-"canny" situation after getting its head stuck in a heavy, old milk can.

Darby Simpson told us her boyfriend Garrett Smith, a logger in Rice Lake, came upon the struggling bear in a cornfield a few weeks ago.

The bear couldn't get the can off its head so Smith talked to the landowner. He got permission to use his Forwarder machine to help the bear get out of the milk can.

The entire ordeal was caught on camera. Simpson said the video was taken by the landowner.

It shows Smith operating the machine as he uses the claws to hold onto the can. The bear gets picked up and then wiggles out of the can and runs away back into the woods.

It was a happy ending for the little bear who hopefully won't get its curious head stuck in another milk can anytime soon.
