EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. (WEAU) - Three days after more than a foot of snow fell in the Eau Claire area, street conditions in some spots are still sloppy.
"I don't know what they're going to do, but what they need to do is clear it," Jackie Manning of Eau Claire said.
With more than 14 inches of snowfall, Eau Claire's street department has been challenged to clear busy main roads and residential side streets.
"Over the past two days, we've been working hard on Hastings Way, cleaning it up, with this warm weather, it should clean up pretty good within the next 24 hours," street maintenance manager Steven Thompson said.
He said his crew of 30 is plowing, salting and sanding 16 hours a day, focusing on high traffic roads first.
"There's going to be some fluffing up of the snow in the residential areas." "We won't get to them right away, but we will be getting to them. And clean up, plowing them as the days go on here," Thompson said.
As the days went on, some drivers were being patient.
"I've had some issues in the past about cars being buried or streets not getting plowed, but i think, overall they got a B rating," Jon Stolp of Eau Claire said.
Others said they are waiting for action.
"We used to have nice clear roads, years ago, and now, it's gotten to a point where a guy needs an off-road vehicle just to drive around in town," Al Weissinger of Eau Claire said.
"You could be driving on dry pavement, then, hit a lumpy spot with snow and it's dangerous. I think it's very dangerous. You have to drive accordingly."
