CADOTT, Wis. (WEAU) -- A snowmobiler gets lucky after falling through the Yellow River in Chippewa County.

Boyd Fire Chief Ron Patten said he got a call around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

He said a man on his snowmobile ended up falling through the Yellow River near 290th St. between Cadott and Boyd, but because the water wasn't too deep, he was able to climb out.

The man was able to call a friend who drove him home to Cadott.

Patten said paramedics determined he was not hurt, just very cold.

Friends were able to pull the snowmobile out onto the bank.

The chief said because water was running fast in some parts of the river, the ice was thin.

The man's name has not been released.
