Spreading happiness in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Some students at one area college were trying to put people in a good mood.

Students who live in Coate Hall at UW-La Crosse took part in a “Happiness Project.”

They were standing along La Crosse Street outside of Coate Hall with signs saying things like, “Honk and be happy.”

It’s based on a YouTube video about a similar effort in Washington D.C.

“To inspire people that are having a bad day, get some positivity going. Them reading these signs just makes their day so, why not?” said UW-L freshman Isaiah Thomas.

Students who participated in the “Happiness Project” said it put them in a good mood as well.

They also said they would consider doing something like this again next year.
