UW-Eau Claire Student Senate Press Release
EAU CLAIRE — The Student Senate is pleased to announce that the student body has selected their mascot, determined by the results of a survey emailed to all students last week.
A committee of students appointed by Student Senate put out a call to students, faculty, staff and alumni asking for mascot image submissions in April. After a month of submissions, the committee selected four finalists. The committee then sent a survey to all university students via email, asking them to rank the four mascot images in their order of preference.
At the survey closing, 2,698 students had completed the survey. With 57.12 percent of the vote, the image chosen as the student mascot was one created by Ben Stroinski, alumnus of UW-Eau Claire 2004 class. The image may be seen below.
The Student Senate, on behalf of students, will now pursue a physical mascot suit and students to portray it at University functions. This mascot will represent the students of UW-Eau Claire, not the university itself. The hope is that over time the University will also adopt the student mascot as its own representation and as the official mascot of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
