UW-Stout to close for planned power shut down

NEWS RELEASE FROM UW-STOUT:

University of Wisconsin-Stout will be closed beginning at noon Friday, June 29, due to a planned electrical shutdown. The campus officially will remain closed to the public and most employees until 6 p.m. Sunday, July 1, although power may be restored to some or all buildings before then.

All buildings on campus will be vacated by noon Friday because power needs to be shut down to allow an electrical substation to be relocated to a new substation near the heating plant at 307 9th Avenue East. Some buildings, including the Memorial Student Center, will be closed all of Friday.

University police is working with other police agencies to ensure adequate security for the campus during the shutdown.

The relatively small number of students who live in residence halls during the summer will be relocated to Red Cedar Hall, along with housing staff, for the duration of the outage.

The UW-Stout website and email service for students, faculty and staff will continue to function during the outage. However, there will be little or no Internet service available on campus. An announcement will be made on the UW-Stout website and on our Facebook page when power has been restored.
