UWEC hosts Fire Up cheer and stunt championship

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- From middle-schoolers to college students, cheer squads came to Eau Claire today to show off their talents in their biggest event of the year.

The U.W. Eau Claire Cheer and Stunt team competed against other colleges and hosted high school and middle school cheer teams in the 3-rd annual Fire Up Championship. Teams from Dubuque, Iowa to Superior faced off to cheer, do stunts and dance.

“It's very important for them to be able to showcase what they do. They not only cheer for football, and basketball and wrestling and hockey, but they also take hours and hours of their week, during their time to work on competition routines,” said coach of the UWEC Cheer and Stunt Team Coach, Amy Lavelle.

The event was held at U.W. Eau Claire's McPhee Center.
