EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (RELEASE FROM DOWNTOWN EC)--Even though it doesn’t look like spring, we still need to do a little spring cleaning! The Our City Spring Clean-Up is on Saturday, May 18th! We’re expecting about 300-400 people to help shine up a huge area around Downtown Eau Claire. We will be cleaning, raking, sweeping, and planting flowers in around 20 blocks of the Downtown area, as well as helping many downtown non-profit organizations AND businesses this year.
Our volunteers will help clean and organize costumes at the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre and perform landscaping tasks. They’ll paint at Western Dairyland. They’ll help with clean-up projects at Big Brothers Big Sisters. They’ll help build a fence and other tasks at the Community Garden. They’ll be washing windows at churches. They’ll be prepping and painting at the Forest St. Kid’s Garden. They’ll be everywhere!
Outside of the non-profit help, the volunteers will also sweep all Downtown sidewalks, pull weeds, clean windows, plant flowers, rake, clean-up the river trails, pick up trash, sweep parking lots, and many other tasks.
Volunteers – families, groups from local businesses, church members, youth groups and others – can sign up online by clicking below through Saturday, May 4. Can you help us get the word out in our quest to spruce up our community?
Our City 2013 is a joint collaboration with Valleybrook Church and Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI).
