WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- A 19-year-old central Wisconsin woman is charged as an adult with two felony counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, even though she was 10 at the time of the alleged offenses.
According to a Marathon County criminal complaint, an investigation began in March 2011 when a girl, then 14, told investigators that sometime between 2003 and 2005, the suspect ordered the girl, her sister, and a 5-year-old boy to perform sex acts on each other.
Marathon County Deputy District Attorney Theresa Wetzsteon says the Weston woman is being charged as an adult because the crime wasn't reported until the suspect was older than 17 and she couldn't legally be charged in juvenile court.
The Daily Herald Media reports (http://wdhne.ws/12WqNjk) a status conference is set for Sept. 16.
