Wis. GOP names fake Democrats for recall primaries

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state GOP has lined up six fake Democrats to run in upcoming recall elections targeting Gov. Scott Walker and five other Republicans.

GOP spokesman Ben Sparks says Gladys Huber will run for governor; Isaac Weix will run for lieutenant governor; and Gary Ellerman, Tamara Varebrook, James Engel and James Buckley will run in four state Senate recalls.

The elections are scheduled for May 8 and June 5. If primaries are needed they'll be held May 8.

Sparks says running fake Democrats guarantees a clear primary date and ensures no Republicans will face a general election that day, when Democrats likely will turn out in huge numbers to select a gubernatorial challenger.

He says the party doesn't plan to spend any money on the fake Democrats' campaigns.

Good to see Isaac Weix's name. Always like to see someone with prior experience.

I'm willing to bet 1000$ that the dems would run a fake GOP if they had to. Truth be told.. The dems tried to sue the state a few years ago because Wi has an open primary. A little 'dirty' yes, but both parties would do it.

How to example this to our children? Poor example of the way government is suppose to work or to put any faith in any elected official.

I am amazed by the amount of people in these type of topics that shoot off their mouths and have no clue what they are saying. Most of you act like a bunch of grade school whiners that will say anything and think they are right because they heard it from their neighbor. Half of you are standing up for the party that you believe in and obviously did not read the topic or any of the comments below but you go ahead and shoot off your mouth anyway. Be proud, you are what is ruining American culture.

This is exactly the type of sleazy tactics the Republican party is known for, and the reason I will never vote for one. Conservative but not crooked

Doesnt matter to me who puts forth fake candidates. It destroys the democratic process and just means that these people are too afraid that they will lose. Should be illegal to do!
