EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)- A local family is getting their wish granted just in time for the holidays.
14-year old Taylor Strutz and her family are one step closer to getting their dream vacation to Disney World thanks to the Make-A-Wish organization.
Sunday a stretch limo pulled into their driveway in Eau Claire to pick them up for their weeklong adventure.
“I was speechless I didn't know what to think,” Taylor Strutz said.
Taylor, who is 14, has spent hundreds of hours at doctor's appointments since she was born waiting for answers.
“They actually didn't know she had a hole in her heart her initial surgery when she was 2 months old,” Taylor’s mom Sarah said.
Taylor's mom says it wasn't long after she was born that the surgeries and diagnosis started. Sarah says it wasn't until last year that the family finally found out the name of Taylor's condition.
“It’s called multisystemic smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome. Pretty much her blood vessels are dilated are enlarged,” Sarah said.
The syndrome has meant Taylor has battled sickness throughout her life, but through it all she keeps a smile on her face.
That smile showed through when her very own limo came to pick her up Sunday for her wish come true.
The excitement has been building for Taylor since she found out her mother’s boyfriend wrote to the Make-A-Wish foundation and her wish was granted. Now her mom, younger sister and her grandma all get a chance to take their mind off of hospitals and treatments with this trip to Disney World.
“I’m mostly excited to get away and for Taylor not to have to worry about doctors' appointments,” Sarah said.
“I’m looking forward to spending time with my family,” Taylor’s sister Madalyn said.
