Vietnam Veteran's Day Community Educational Event
Please join Thuy Smith International and the Lake Hallie Eagle's Club on March 9th, 2013 along with Congressman Kind, Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls City Council, and Vietnam Era Veterans who served during the Vietnam War Era and their families for the Fourth Annual Vietnam Veteran's Day Community event. It is a day to remember, to learn, and to share our varied American experience and sacrifice.
1pm-5pm will be various educational, reflective, and tribute displays by Vietnam Era Veterans, Children & Grandchildren of Vietnam Veterans, and others in the community. The displays will be of Photos, art work, letters home, articles, poetry & writings of all kinds, and memorabilia about the Vietnam War era. A universal and valuable aspect of the military experience will be recognized this year by a 'tip of the hat' to the famous G.I. sense of humor.
There will also be short and informal educational presentations with intervals to allow for interaction and questions. At 3pm local Veteran Service Officers will provide a Q & A session on Veteran benefits for all Veterans.
4-5pm will be the main ceremony with special recognition of Purple Heart Recipients and Hmong T-28 Pilots, Tribute and remembrance of those listed on the Vietnam Wall memorial, and presentation by Hmong youth. WEAU 13 NEWS Judy Clark is the Masters of Ceremony.
We invite All Veterans from the Vietnam Era to display their items at the event. Community members are also welcomed to create an educational or Tribute display. Submission Deadline is March 6, 2013.
