Concussions can result in permanent disability and even death in athletes. Wisconsin has enacted a new law requiring athletes sustaining a concussion to cease play until receiving written permission from their health care provider.

Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire has started a Concussion Clinic to offer quick and convenient treatment to athletes sustaining a concussion. Computerized pre- and post-concussion screenings, called ImPACT testing, also is available through Mayo Clinic Health System.
