TODAY INTERVIEW: Concussions

RELEASE:

Concussions can result in permanent disability and even death in athletes. Wisconsin has enacted a new law requiring athletes sustaining a concussion to cease play until receiving written permission from their health care provider.

Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire has started a Concussion Clinic to offer quick and convenient treatment to athletes sustaining a concussion. Computerized pre- and post-concussion screenings, called ImPACT testing, also is available through Mayo Clinic Health System.

Details about the Saturday Morning Sports Medicine Clinic:

Time: 9 to 10 a.m.
Date: Saturdays, August 18 through October 13.
Place: Orthopedic Center, 4th floor clinic building - Luther Campus, 1400 Bellinger St.
