EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– People of all ages will find wellness information at the free Family Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Mayo Clinic Health System kiosk near the Oakwood Mall play area.
Free health talks:
•9 a.m. — “Know Your Numbers: Understand Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and BMI to Control Risk of Heart Disease.” Nurse practitioner Mona Howard will discuss heart disease risk factors and prevention.
•10 a.m. — “Healthy Eating for a Healthy Family.” Registered dietitian Diane Dressel will discuss the importance of nutritious meals to keep the family healthy.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., health care providers will staff free displays and screenings:
•Check your cholesterol and blood sugar (nonfasting).
•Have your blood pressure taken.
•Fill out vital statistics cards for your children.
•Get tips on sleep and weight loss.
•Ask about healthy foods, preventive care, pharmacy services and home medical equipment.
•Exercise with hula hoops and exercise bands.
•Register to win prizes.
