Vote due on adding dead Wis. officer to memorial

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A nonprofit group in Washington, D.C., is scheduled to vote on whether to add the name of a fallen Wisconsin police officer to its memorial of officers killed in the line of duty.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is set to vote Wednesday at 9 a.m. Central.

The group initially planned to exclude Wauwatosa police Officer Jennifer Sebena from its memorial. That's because even though the 30-year-old was on duty when she was shot, the suspect is her husband, which would make her death an apparent case of domestic violence.

Wisconsin's governor joined the Wisconsin Professional Police Association in pressuring the memorial group to reconsider.

Thirty-year-old Benjamin Sebena has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to a homicide charge stemming from his wife's Dec. 24 death.
