Wisconsin faces an historic budget deficit brought on in part by the national economic downturn. State legislators are holding hearings at five locations around the state to gather public ideas and comments on how to manage this financial challenge, which now shows a shortfall in the current state budget of more than five-billion dollars.
The Obama Administration has committed just over three-billion dollars in economic assistance to Wisconsin to create jobs, and fund other projects.
The hearing on Friday, March 27th is held on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.
