The UW-Extension Offices in Buffalo and Pepin counties are holding an event to launch what's called "Next Steps for Stepfamilies."

This is in response to the success of an education and support program for separating and divorcing families (both parents and their children) called “A Better Beginning”.

The event is Sunday, January 13 at the Marten Community Center in Mondovi.

It's from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

An evening family dinner is included.

Among the topics that will be covered at the event:

-Parents skills and strategies to protect and strengthen their couple relationship AND to develop positive, healthy family relationships between adults and children.

-Children skills and strategies to help create a positive stepfamily experience.

-Families a process to form a healthy identity, workable rules, agreed expectations, nurture relationships and navigate change.

-All family members tools for optimal communication, managing conflict and problem solving.

For more information, call the extension offices at either (715) 672-5214
or (608) 685-6256.
