A five figure donation to the Myrick Hixon Eco-Park in La Crosse will go toward a display that teaches people about raptors.

Dairyland power presented a $10,000 check to the La Crosse Park Commissioners Thursday.

The company has been trying to bring the once-endangered peregrine falcon species back to the upper Mississippi River valley for more than a decade.

Animals native to the region, like the falcon, will be in the eco-park.

The area is the former Hixon Forest Nature Center.

A new zoo and nature center are expected to open next year.
