MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Two Republican legislators are circulating a bill that would allow outdoor lovers to donate to wildlife habitat management through a voluntary check-off on licenses and registrations.

The bill would allow anyone who purchases a hunting, trapping or fishing license, a snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle or boat registration or a state park admission sticker to contribute a minimum of $2 to the state Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR would then pay the money to the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin. The foundation would use the money to create an endowment program to support habitat management on state land.

State Sen. Dale Schultz of Richland Center and Rep. Warren Petryk are looking for co-sponsors for the bill. Republican Gov. Scott Walker says he supports the measure.
