School officials say last Friday, a letter was found on one of the library printers. The author expressed anger towards "fellow classmates" and wrote if they didn't "shut up" within a week, the author would harm himself or herself, and other students.

After interviews failed to establish who was responsible, school officials, guidance counselors and police agreed that canceling classes was the safest option.

"It's a very serious action this individual has taken and our school has consequences for this behavior and the community our legal system has consequences for this behavior and those match the seriousness of the threat itself," says district administrator Jesse Harness.

The home football game scheduled for Saturday has also been moved to Lacrosse.

If you have any information about who may have issued the threats, contact the Menomonie Police Department (715) 232-1283.
