Eau Claire North's Nate Sorenson lit up Carson Park on Friday night with 149 yards on 10 carries. The junior running back scored rushing, receiving, and on special teams. Jenn Chapman has this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week.
"Our line got most of it done, they had a really good night," says Sorenson.
Nate Sorenson was quick to give the credit to his O-line for his breakout game and was even a bit surprised he found the end zone 5 times, but his team wasn't.
"No, he's a great athlete, I mean, he's a good running back and he should be able to do that every week," says tight end, Bryce Kamenick.
"I thought it was a credit to Nate, his effort and attitude to finding his way around the football. You know his special teams touchdown was one where he had the effort to continue to play to the whistle, found his way around the football, and good things happen when you find you're way around the ball," says head coach, Josh Fizel.
Nate's five touchdowns were a part of a much bigger picture as Eau Claire North got their first win in 20 games, dating back to August of 2011.
"Probably the best part of it, was they were very level headed, and very much excited to get back to work and know that there's still some tremendous challenges in front of us," adds Fizel.
The humble junior says he and his team are focused on getting more tallies in the win column.
"Try and get another one and keep working hard on and off the field and having a lot of nice games to compete in," adds Sorenson.
